Police seek Dollar Tree robber

Vicksburg police are seeking information about the Monday morning robbery of the Dollar Tree, 2904 Clay St.

Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said a man walked into the store as it was opening about 9 a.m. and handed the clerk a note saying, “This is a robbery.”

The clerk opened up the register, gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash, and the man left the store on foot.

Edwards said the clerk told officers the man had been seen earlier standing in front of Hibbett Sports, which is next to the store.

In other cases:

• Two men were wounded in a drive-by shooting at the corner of First North Street early Sunday morning, Edwards said.

The shooting occurred about 4:24 a.m. He said the men were standing on the corner talking when a car drove up and fired several shots, hitting one man in the neck. Another bullet ricocheted off the sidewalk and struck the other man in the foot. Both men were taken to Merit Health River Region.

Edwards said the man hit in the foot refused to talk to police and left the hospital against doctor’s orders. The other man’s wound was described as superficial.

• At 2:25 a.m. Sunday, police were called to a home in the 900 block of Pierce Street after a man kicked in the door of the house and said he was looking for his girlfriend. The occupant in the house ran off, and the intruder left on foot.

• A green jewelry box, two pearl necklaces, a pair of diamond earrings and $150 were reported stolen about 3:05 p.m. Sunday from a car parked in the 100 block of Hilda Marie Street.

• Keith Anthony Sanders, 36, of Vicksburg, was arrested Friday on a charge of fourth-offense domestic violence. He is being held without bond in the Warren County Jail. He is being held on a warrant from the Mississippi Department of Corrections for probation violation.

• An iPhone 6 and iPhone 5 were reported stolen about 11:49 Friday from C&K automotive, 2727 Clay St.

• A purse, wallet and Trustmark debit card were reported stolen Friday about 12:56 p.m. from a car parked at the Vicksburg Country Club, 127 Country Club Drive.

• An Apple iPad Professional was reported stolen about 7:30 p.m. Saturday from a 2015 Kia Soul.
