Byron Keith Lewis, 50, of Bovina, better known as “Cutworm” or “Cut” to his many friends, died suddenly Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017, in Vicksburg.

Keith was born Oct. 1, 1967, and spent the first half of his full life as a resident of Utica before moving to Bovina after marriage. He was a devout family man, and a great provider. An exemplary husband and a true father, he always put his wife and son’s needs before his own. He was a hard-working horseman who loved all animals. A truly skilled carpenter who could build anything, and whether working in the timber business, or building swimming pools, he was very good at what he did. Keith never met a stranger. His infectious personality and unique wit was second to none. He was a beloved and respected man by all with which he came in contact. He was anyone’s friend as soon as they met, and remained their friend for as long as they knew each other. Whether people remembered the white cowboy hat, the nicknames that he frequently gave to all, or how he had such a unique ability to make people laugh and feel good, they remembered something pleasant about Keith. He also loved children, all children, especially his, but not only his. Regardless of the setting, if there were children present, he always assured that they had his attention and affection, and that they felt comfortable and special at the time. Keith would work hard to make sure that any child had whatever they needed to make the moment, or the memory, the best it could be.

Keith is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jamie; his son, Dustin; his brother, Charles “Chuck” Lewis (Pollyanna) of Eagle Lake; three grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and many beloved cousins.
