Man shot in the leg; VPD looking for ‘Scooter’

Vicksburg Police Department is searching for a shooting suspect in a Thursday afternoon incident on South Street.
At around 4 p.m., police responded to 1314 South Street in reference to a shooting and found Keithan Terrell Ward, 20, lying on the ground after he had been shot in the leg. Ward was responsive and told officers Jshon Melvin Ross, a.ka. “Scooter, shot him after the two had a confrontation inside the residence.
Ward was transported to Merritt Health River Region Medical Center for treatment by paramedics from the Vicksburg Fire Department.
Ross was not on scene and is wanted for questioning in the shooting. If anyone has additional information concerning this shooting or know the whereabouts of Ross are asked to call the Vicksburg Police Department at 601-636-2511 or CrimeStoppers at 601-355-TIPS.
