A Vicksburg man was being held in the Warren County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond after his arrest Monday on theft charges.

Keithan Terrell Ward, 20, 146 Smith Place was arrested on a Vicksburg police warrant charging him with breaking and entering, Sg.t Johnnie Edwards said. Ward was arrested about 2:30 p.m. Monday during a traffic stop on East Clay Street at YMCA Place. He is also charged with driving with an expired driver’s license, no proof of insurance and seatbelt violation.

Edwards said police are holding a man who was with Ward after a 9 mm pistol reported stolen was found during a search of the car Ward was driving. He said the man was being held for questioning in connection with the stolen firearm but has not been charged.

In other cases:

• An iPhone 8 and a Capital One credit card were reported taken about 2:42 a.m. Tuesday from a home in the 2400 block of Cherry Street. Edwards said the homeowner reported seeing a man running from his house.

• A Glock 19 Gen 4 9 x 19mm handgun was reported taken about 8:54 a.m. Monday from a 2008 Ford F-250 pickup parked at the Super 8 Hotel 3308 Pemberton Square Blvd.

Police reported the following arrests Monday:

• Jason Antonio Shelton, 35, 2604 Togo St., was arrested about 12:27 a.m. in the 3000 block of Indiana Avenue on a charge of first-offense shoplifting. He was also served with a warrant.

• Taylor Marie Shiers, 19, 9774 U.S. 61 South, was arrested about 11:15 a.m. at the Vicksburg Police Department on a charge of jumping bail.

• George Payton Price, 40, 510 Bazinsky Road 1H,was arrested about 12:19 p.m. at the police department on charges of trespassing and petit larceny.

• Cortez Keon Harris, 26, 1311 Victory Ave., was arrested about 4:13 p.m. at the police station on a charge of contempt of court.

• Starnikia Sigourney Stewart, 31, 302 Gayle St., Tallulah, La., was arrested about 4:20 p.m. at the police station on a charge of contempt of court.

• Jerry Williams, 49, 604 Griffin St., Tallulah, La., was arrested about 9: 25 p.m. in the 3000 block of Indiana Avenue on two counts of shoplifting.

• 4:14 p.m., 1900 block of Sky Farm Avenue, petit larceny — stolen tag.

• 4:57 p.m., 100 block of Scenic Drive, structure fire.

• 9:10 p.m., 3000 block of Indiana Avenue, two reports of shoplifting.

• 9:19 p.m., 1700 block of South Street, simple assault with bodily injury.

• 10:04 a.m., 400 block of Lake Hill Drive, lost property — undetermined theft.

• 1:31 a.m. Sunday, area of Cain Ridge Road and Columbia Avenue, second offence DUI; careless driving.
