The Vicksburg-Warren Humane Society is seeking the identity of an individual who dropped off a closed container of nine puppies while the shelter was closed.

According to officials at the VWHS, at approximately 8 a.m. on Feb. 2, a man driving an older model white car pulled into the driveway of the shelter and parked away from the building. He then got out of his car, opened the trunk of the vehicle and took out a blue plastic container that had nine puppies and set it on the front door step of the shelter.

“He actually parked in front of our ‘no trespassing after hours’ sign,” Georgia Lynn with the VWHS said in a press release. “Before he left, this man made sure the lid was fastened tight. The blue container did not have any air holes.”

The puppies are about six weeks old and appear to be a hound mix, according to Lynn.

“We are currently treating them for mange,” Lynn said.

Anyone with information on the identity of this individual is asked to call the VWHS at 601-636-6631, the Vicksburg Police Department at 601-636-2511 or the Warren County Sheriff’s Office at 601-636-1761.
