Suspect charged with murder in Wednesday shooting

One person died following a shooting on Feld Street Wednesday afternoon. A suspect has been arrested and charged with muruder.

Richard Albert, 25, 542 Feld St., was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Doug Huskey after suffering multiple gunshot wounds. Darrion Keenan Truly, 21, 133 Meadowbrook Drive, has been charged with murder in Albert’s death. The weapon has been recovered, VPD Sgt. Jonnie Edwards said.

Vicksburg Police Chief Milton Moore said VPD received a call at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday that a person had been shot in the 500 block of Feld Street.

“Officers arrived on scene and found a black man lying in the street next to his house,” Moore said. “The black male appeared to be shot several times in the upper torso area.”

Moore said paramedics attempted to revive Albert, but they were unable to.

According to a VPD press release, witnesses told officers that Truly shot Albert multiple times following a verbal altercation. Truly reportedly fled the scene in a silver Buick LeSabre before turning himself in at the police station at 3:49 p.m.

Truly will have his initial appearance Friday morning. He is currently being held without bond in the Issaquena County Correctional Facility.
