Warren Central had a difficult time getting past Greenville in their first go-round this week.

The second time, not so much.

Six of the Vikings’ 11 hits went for extra bases, including two doubles by Vantrel Reed and a triple by Hank Holdiness, as they routed Greenville 10-0 on Friday night.

Unlike their meeting Tuesday in Greenville, which Warren Central won in 10 innings, this one was never much of a contest. Reed hit an RBI double in the bottom of the first inning to bring in the game’s first run, and then the Vikings scored five times in the second.

D.J. Lewis drove in two runs with a single during the big rally, and Caleb Sterling plated two more with a double.

Sterling also had an RBI single in the sixth inning and finished 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Reed was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, and Holdiness had two hits, an RBI and scored a run.

Alan Kivett doubled and scored a run, and also pitched a gem. The freshman allowed three hits and no walks in six shutout innings. He struck out 11 batters and ran his scoreless innings streak to 13.

Warren Central (12-4, 4-0 Division 4-6A) won its sixth consecutive game, and will continue a busy stretch when it plays at Brandon Saturday at 1 p.m. WC will also host crosstown rival Vicksburg Monday at 7 p.m., and then travel to face Clinton Tuesday at 7 p.m. in a key division game.

PCA 14, Hillcrest 2

Brayden Ray went 3-for-3 with a double, triple, two RBIs and three runs scored to lead Porter’s Chapel Academy to a rout of Hillcrest Christian.

After a scoreless first inning, the Eagles plated multiple runs in each of the next three before winning via the mercy rule. Ray doubled and scored on a single by Brandon Thompson in the second inning. Gage Wilkinson’s RBI single gave the Eagles a 2-1 lead. They never trailed again, and blew it open by scoring seven runs in the bottom of the third.

Thompson finished the game 2-for-3 with a pair of singles, and Bradley McCullough went 2-for-4 with a double for PCA.

Wade Dickard pitched four innings and allowed two runs, three hits and two walks while striking out seven.

Germantown 15, Vicksburg 0

Austin Lee belted a three-run home run during a nine-run second inning to help propel Germantown (12-2, 4-0 Division 4-5A) past Vicksburg High (2-10, 0-4).

Lee finished 2-for-2 with the homer, a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Brandon Ware also hit a solo home run and Collin Magoun drove in three runs for the Mavericks, who swept a home-and-home series from the Gators.

Alfred Barnes, Malik Barnes and Dustin Shirey each had a single for Vicksburg.

Tallulah 17, Riverfield 6

Hager Fortenberry went 3-for-3 a double, triple, three RBIs and four runs scored as Tallulah Academy (4-5) rolled past Riverfield Academy.

Ty Schaufele hit a two-run homer for the Trojans and was 3-for-3 with four RBIs and two runs scored.

Softball
Vicksburg 11, Madison-St. Joseph 0
