Malcolm Butler football camp

Registration for the fourth annual Malcolm Butler Football Camp will begin April 1 and continue through April 30, or until all slots are full.

The camp will be held July 14 at Vicksburg High School’s Memorial Stadium. There will be 200 slots for first- through sixth-graders in the Malcolm & Me Camp, and 300 spots for seventh- through 12th-graders in The Malcolm Butler Junior High and High School Football Camp.

The camp is free, but registration is available online only, at malcolmbutlerfootballcamp.org. Early registration is encouraged.

Clear Creek Ladies report

On March 21, Clear Creek Ladies Golf Association members met for a round of individual stroke play. Emily Bonelli placed first, with Connie Kegerreis taking second and Mary May third.

Adult softball league

Registration for the Vicksburg Parks and Recreation Department’s spring adult softball league is now open and will continue until April 27.

Registration is open to men’s, women’s and church teams. Packets are available at the Parks and Rec office at 100 Army Navy Drive, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

A mandatory coaches meeting will be held on April 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Parks and Rec office. For more information, call Joseph Graves at 601-831-8050.

YMCA lifeguard class

The Vicksburg Purks YMCA will host an American Red Cross lifeguarding class April 9-19. The 30-hour class will meet from 6 to 8:45 p.m. each weeknight for two weeks. Participants must be at least 15 years old or turning that age no later than April 20, 2018.

Candidates must also complete a strength and endurance test that includes a 300-yard swim using various strokes, and other timed drills. The cost for the course is $125 for YMCA members and $175 for non-members. The class will be taught by American Red Cross instructors Susan and Bob Athow, and Sylvia Gurtowski.

Fuzzy Johnson Baseball

Registration is now open for the Fuzzy Johnson Baseball League’s 2018 season. The league is for children ages 9-15, and games are played at Fuzzy Johnson Park on Mission 66. Registration forms are available at the Jackson Street Community Center, or by calling Ernest Galloway at 601-618-4455.

WC basketball tryouts

Tryouts for Warren Central’s boys basketball team will be held April 23-25, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. each day, the Gym A at Warren Central High School. All athletes must have a current physical and turn in a participation packet prior to the tryouts.

Birdie, Bogey and Boogie

The Junior Auxiliary of Vicksburg will host its annual Birdie, Bogey and Boogie for Kids golf tournament on April 6 at Vicksburg Country Club. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., and the tournament at 1 p.m. The entry fee for the four-person scramble is $400 per team.

USM basketball camp

Southern Miss will host a youth basketball camp May 30 through June 1 at Reed Green Coliseum in Hattiesburg. The camp is for boys and girls ages 4-11, and will run from 8 a.m. to noon each day. The camp is geared toward developing a love for the game in primary and elementary school players by providing basketball activities with social interaction. The cost is $50 per player, and $25 if they bring a second person.
