Man jailed for assaulting ex-girlfriend

A Vicksburg man was being held in the Warren County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bond charged with sexual battery, kidnapping and burglary in the reported assault of his ex-girlfriend in December.

Vicksburg police Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said Lafane Demond Mixon, 43, 2015 Temple St., was arrested Friday about 1:37 p.m. at the Vicksburg Police Department. Edwards said the charges involve a Dec. 15 incident in which Mixon broke into the woman’s home, forced her into another room of the home at gunpoint and assaulted her.

In other cases:

• Police are looking for a man in connection with the reported Saturday armed robbery of the Holiday Inn, 115 Cypress Center Blvd.

According to police reports, a man entered the hotel lobby about 1:28 a.m., displayed a gun and demanded money. He left the hotel with about $300.

• Bernard Hodge, 25, 125 Debra Drive, was arrested Friday on a charge of third-offense domestic assault involving an attack on his girlfriend on Alcorn Drive. He was released on $5,000 bond.

• Landon Thomas Quinton, 18, 317 Magnolia St., Edwards, was charged with auto burglary after his arrest Friday by police responding to a call about 9:58 p.m. in the 3000 block of Indiana Avenue.

• A Reebok sweatshirt, RLX sweatshirt, $5 in change, a pair of Versace sunglasses and a bottle of prescription medication were reported taken about 2:42 p.m. Sunday from a BMW 650i parked in the 1300 block of Washington Street.

• Shots were reported fired about 9:20 p.m. Sunday in the Stillwater Drive area.

• Shots were reported fired about 3:35 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of Farmer Street.

• A Michael Kors purse containing perfume and a wallet with $120 and credit and debit cards and Social Security cards was reported taken Friday about 7:08 p.m. from a Nissan Altima in the parking lot of the Motel 6, 4137 I-10 Frontage Road.

Police responded the following calls Friday through Sunday:

• 6:08 a.m. Sunday, area of Kings Drive, verbal disturbance.

• 3 p.m. Sunday, 300 block First North Street, petit larceny.

• 3:53 p.m. Saturday, Clay Street near Mission 66, false information to police officer.

• 7 p.m. Saturday, 100 Block of Sky Farm Avenue, malicious mischief.

• 9 p.m. Saturday, 1800 block of Cherry Street, disorderly conduct.

• 6:02 a.m. Friday, 1700 block of East Avenue, discharging a firearm in the city limits.

• 7:38 a.m. Friday, 3400 block of Halls Ferry Road, simple assault-creating fear.

• 2:20 p.m. Friday, 3500 Block of Pemberton Square Boulevard, shoplifting.

• 4:46 p.m. Friday, 700 block of Veto Street, false information to police officer.
