VPD looking for gunman who robbed store

Vicksburg police are looking for a man who robbed the Pay Day Cash & Title at the corner of Clay and Hope streets early Monday morning, taking an undisclosed amount of cash.

Vicksburg police Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said the robbery occurred about 11:57 a.m. when a man described as having a light complexion and a “scraggly” beard entered the store, displayed a handgun to the lone employee in the building and demanded money.

“He had a folder that was stapled on both sides that he had the clerk put the money in,” Edwards said.

The man left the store on foot heading southwest on Baldwin Ferry Road and was last seen going into a wooded area along Baldwin Ferry Road.

In another case Monday, LaToya Alize-Rosheka Williams, 21, 122 Alfred Drive, was charged with aggravated assault. She is accused of striking another woman with a bottle during an argument at the Tree House Cafe, 1837 Cherry St. She was released on $15,000 bond.

The woman received a cut on her head and a broken nose. She was treated at Merit Health River Region and released, Edwards said.

In other cases:

• Toya Yvette Warren 39, 3802 Halls Ferry Road, was arrested Saturday about 11:56 p.m. in the 100 block of Warrenton Road on a warrant from the Mississippi Department of Corrections charging her with probation violation. She was also charged with three counts of contempt of court and multiple traffic violations.

• Hunter Cryer, 16, 1245 Mount Alban Road, was charged with auto theft in the April 4 theft of a Toyota Tundra pickup from a home in the 1900 block of Porters Chapel Road. Cryer, who previously was certified by the courts as an adult, is being held in the Warren County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond. Warren County authorities have placed a hold on him.

• A television and TV stand were damaged by someone who entered a home in the 1000 block of Urban Court about 2:32 a.m. Monday.

• Shots were reported fired about 10:01 p.m. Sunday in the 1000 block of National Street.

• Shots were reported fired about 9:21 p.m. Sunday in the area of National and Speed streets.

• Shots were reported fired about 9:08 p.m. Saturday in the area of Drusilla Street and Azalea Lane.

  Shots were reported fire about 10:02 p.m. Friday in the area of Wisconsin Avenue and Bazinsky Road.

• The resident of a home in the 300 block of Azalea Lane, reported about 3:28 p.m. Friday she found a bullet hole in a windowsill of her home. She told police she had heard shots being fired the night before.

Vicksburg police made the following arrests between Friday and Sunday:

• Carol Lynn Grimmett, 21, 50 Catfish Alley, Eagle Lake, was arrested about 2:49 p.m. Sunday in the 2100 block of Iowa Boulevard on a charge of first-offense shoplifting.

• Warrants were served Sunday on Brad Kintrell King, 33, 1004 Howard St.

• Deanna Michelle Howard, 23, 450 China Grove Road, was arrested about 11:39 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Clay Street and Mission 66 on charges of having no proof of insurance, having a suspended driver’s license, giving false information to police, speeding, and two counts of contempt of court.

• Jordan Tyler Martin, 26, 520 Berryman Road, was arrested about 10:32 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Washington and Grove streets on charges of public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.

• Darryl Dewayne Harris, 39, 215 Enchanted Hills Road, was arrested about 10:26 p.m. in the 200 block of Enchanted Drive on a charge of leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident.

• Delesha McCoy, 28, 909 South Elm St., Tallulah, Louisiana, was arrested about 9:56 p.m. on Clay Street on a charge of driving with a suspended license.

• Robert Andrew Screws, 19, 4301 Windsor Point, was arrested about 8:57 p.m. at the intersection of Washington and Clay streets on charged of underage possession of alcohol and using a false ID to purchase alcohol.

• Antolio Terrell Miller, 30, 1001 First East St., was arrested about 8:06 p.m. at the intersection of First East and Walnut streets on a charge of contempt of court.

• Marquita Nicole Promise, 233 Demby Drive, was arrested about 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the 4300 block of Halls Ferry Road on a charge of first-offense shoplifting.

• Henry Earl Armstead, 34, 2418 Halls Ferry Road, was arrested about 2:08 p.m. Friday in the 1800 block of Cherry Street on two counts of theft from a vehicle under $50.

• Warrants were served Friday on Brian Elliott Darden, 46, 1233 Harrison St.

• Kevin Earl Sanders, 34, 430 Burnt House Road, was arrested about 3:57 p.m. Friday in the 2100 block of Iowa Boulevard on charges of second-offense shoplifting and trespassing. He was also served with a warrant.

• Joseph Peter Edmond, 30, 1950 Hope St. 6-C, was arrested about 12:47 p.m. Friday on charges of having no proof of insurance and driving with a suspended license. He was also served with two warrants.

• A warrant was served Friday on Darren Antonyo Mazie, 33, 3062 Wisconsin Ave.

• A warrant was served Friday on Melody Latwan Stewart, 39, 904 Blossom Lane C-3.

• 12:03 a.m. Saturday, 200 Block of Enchanted Hill Drive, discharging a firearm in the city limits.

• 3:21 a.m. Saturday, 3000 block of Indiana Avenue, shoplifting.

• 10:16 a.m. Saturday, 4000 block of  Halls Ferry Road, shoplifting.

• 10:42 a.m. Saturday, 2700 Block of Alcorn Drive, malicious mischief.

• 2:46 p.m. Saturday, 100 block of Katherine Drive, petit larceny.
