James L. Powers, age 81, passed away April 24, 2018, at his home.

James was born in Silver City to Robert Powers and Lela Hales. James was married to Peggy Wright Powers for 61 years.

He owned Mid-South Clothing and Mid-South Farms for many years. He was a member of the Mississippi Army National Guard.

He is survived by spouse, Peggy Powers; son, Donald Powers; daughter-in-law, Melva Powers; daughter-in-law, Mary Powers; sister, Rosa Harris (Glenn); grandchildren, Cammy Powers, Adam Powers (Wendy) and Joshua Sellers (Heather); great-grandchildren, Jason Powers, Magie Powers, Emma Powers, Bailey Sellers and Anna Lynn; sister-in-laws, Linda Powers, Debbie Cain, Kathy Dulin and Jimmie Lou Hazzard and Miss Daisy and Yellow Cat.

He was preceded in death by parents, Robert Powers and Lela Hales Powers; beloved son, Ronald Powers; grandson, Christopher Powers; two brothers, Albert Powers and Thomas Powers; and his faithful companion, Ole Red, his deer dog.

A memorial service will be Saturday, April 28, 2018, at 11 a.m. under the direction of Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Bert Bryant officiating.

Visitation will be at 10 a.m. until the hour of services.
