MSU Road Dawgs Tour

Mississippi State’s Road Dawgs 2018 Tour will make a stop at the Vicksburg Convention Center on May 10. The event begins at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $15 and includes lunch. The featured speaker will be new Mississippi State football coach Joe Moorhead.

MSU golf tournament

The 28th annual Paul Geer Memorial Bulldog Classic Scholarship Golf Tournament is set for May 16 at the Vicksburg Country Club. Registration begins at noon, and the tournament at 1 p.m. The entry fee is $95 per player or $380 for a four-person team, and single players are welcome. Proceeds benefit the Warren County Chapter of the Mississippi State Alumni Association.

Paws Golf Tournament

Paws Rescue’s second annual “Golf 4 Paws” charity golf tournament is scheduled for May 18 at Clear Creek Golf Course. Registration and lunch begin at noon, and the tournament at 1 p.m.
The entry fee for the four-person scramble is $70 per person and $280 per team. All proceeds go toward rescue expenses for the Paws Rescue animal shelter.

Kings basketball jamboree

The Kings Empowerment Center will host the Basketball Summer Warm-up Jamboree on May 19 beginning at 9 a.m. The tournament is for boys and girls teams in grades 5-12. Each team is guaranteed two games, and the entry fee is $80 per team. Admission for fans is $5, or $3 for children 18 and under.

Learn to Swim class

Vicksburg City Pool will hold registration for the American Red Cross’ Learn to Swim program, May 16-18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day, and from 10 a.m. to noon on May 19. All registration must be done in person at City Pool and is on a first come, first served basis.

The classes provide low-cost swim lessons to children and adults of all ages. Children must be at least 3 years old to participate. The cost is $15 per student for each 10-day session.
The sessions will run from June 4-15, June 25 to July 6, and July 16-27, with class times scheduled throughout the day depending on swimmers’ ages. Each class is 45 minutes long.

WC soccer tryouts

Tryouts for Warren Central’s girls and boys soccer teams will be held May 7-11, on the front field along Mississippi 27, at 4 p.m. each day. All players must have shinguards, a current physical and a parental consent form.

Tryouts for the girls’ team are May 7 and 8 for players entering grades 7-12. All players must sign up on the front field on May 3, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. to get the necessary paperwork.

Fuzzy Johnson Baseball

Registration is open for the Fuzzy Johnson Baseball League’s 2018 season. The league is for children ages 9-15, and games are played at Fuzzy Johnson Park on Mission 66. Registration forms are available at the Jackson Street Community Center, or by calling 601-618-4455.
