The Warren County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate leads after one person was injured in a Friday night shooting.

Deputies responded to a call around 11:30 p.m. Friday that someone had been shot in the 4800 block of Halls Ferry Road.

When they arrived on scene, deputies found a 42-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen who had made his way to his neighbor’s house to seek help after reportedly being shot outside his home.

The victim was transported to Merit Health River Region by the Vicksburg Fire Department and remains hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, according to sheriff Martin Pace.

“Investigator Stacy Rollison is the lead investigator on this case and is following promising leads, but no arrest has been made at this time,” Pace said.

Burglary arrest

In an unrelated incident Friday, sheriff’s deputies made an arrest following a burglary in the 600 block of Valley of the Moon.

John R. Johnson, 37, was charged with residential burglar and he remains in Warren County Jail without bond pending his initial appearance Monday, according to Pace.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call around 2:25 p.m. that a woman came home and found a man in her house and his car parked in her driveway.

“The suspect came out of the home and engaged the homeowner in conversation,” Pace said. “He was taken into custody minutes later when deputies arrived. The only thing known to be missing was an article of clothing that was recovered from the suspect.”
