Vicksburg police Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said Cummings was reported missing about 4:49 p.m. Sunday after he failed to return home from visiting a friend at Eagle Lake Friday. Authorities also put his name on the National Crime Information Center computer as a missing person after the report was filed, Edwards said.

Highway Patrol trooper Kervin Smith said Warren County 911 received a call about 7:25 p.m. Sunday that a vehicle may have left the roadway and become submerged on Mississippi 465 in Issaquena County north of Redwood. He said the Warren County Sheriff’s office and the Vicksburg Fire Department Dive Team responded to the call to look for the vehicle.

Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said he, county fire coordinator Jerry Briggs, investigator Sam Winchester and a fire department diver found the car and the diver was able to get a wrecker cable on the car so it could be pulled out of the water.
