Man facing jail time, fine for firing gun in city limits

A Vicksburg man is the first person to be charged under an amended city ordinance imposing a mandatory fine and jail time for people arrested for discharging a firearm in the city limits.
Police Monday arrested Terry Lemond Curry, 20, 1510 First East St., at his home just after midnight Monday on a charge of discharging a weapon inside the city limits. If convicted, he will serve 30 days in jail and pay a $500 fine.
The Board of Mayor and Alderman in March amended the city’s firearms ordinance to add mandatory penalties for firing a gun inside the city limits. The law was strengthened in response to numerous complaints about people firing their weapons in the city.
In other cases:
• Police received a report Monday from a person that someone used their credit card number to buy $900 in merchandise.
• Workers at Kim Nailor’s law office, 1415 First North St., reported about 10:34 a.m. Monday that they found three bullet holes in the building.
• A Trane central heating and air conditioning unit was reported taken about 3:13 p.m. Monday from a home in the 700 block of Maurice Street.
• A woman reported about 12:57 p.m. Monday that someone used her name to get Comcast cable service in Jackson. The woman gave police a bill for service sent to her home in Vicksburg.
• A 2000 Pontiac Grand Am, 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix and a 2002 Chevrolet Impala, were reported taken about 4:50 p.m. Friday from David Smith Auto Repair, 1315 Clay St.
• A Hewlett Packard laptop computer, a pair of True Religion jeans valued at $180, an Apple watch valued at $300 and a $70 Amazon Fire Stick were reported taken Friday from a home in the 300 block of Skyline Drive.
• Shots were reported fired about 9:48 p.m. Friday in the 1300 block of Harrison Street.
• Shots were reported fired in the area of Clay and Second North streets about 11:48 p.m. Friday.
• Shots were reported fired about 11:47 p.m. Friday in the 1400 block of Locust Street.
• Wallets, a debit card and a Social Security card were reported taken about 8:13 p.m. from a car parked in the 300 block of North Poplar Street.
Vicksburg police made the following arrests between Friday and Monday:
• Andreanna Renise Robinson, 18, 3120 South Frontage Road, was arrested about 1:47 a.m. Monday in the 4100 block of Pemberton Square Boulevard on a charge of disturbing the peace.
• Justin Brown, 18, 216 Hilside Drive, was arrested about 8:16 a.m. Monday on charges of speeding, no proof of insurance and having an expired driver’s license.
• Felisha Ann Jones, 35, 4720 Benard Drive, was arrested about 9:19 a.m. Monday on a charge of contempt of court.
• George Bradley Matthews, 43, 577 Verhagen Road, Tallulah, Louisiana, was arrested about 11:42 a.m. Sunday in the 1600 block of Mulberry Street on two counts of contempt of court, no proof of insurance, having a suspended driver’s license and having an expired car tag.
• Dacia Denise Burns, 46, 1206 Garden Park, Jackson, was arrested about 1:33 a.m. Sunday in the 4100 block of Washington Street on a charge of contempt of court.
• Warrants were served Saturday on Briana Nichelle Clark, 23, 2036 Heather Place.
• Tyrone Donell Haggins, 31, 289 Ironwood Ave., was arrested about 4:36 p.m. Saturday on North Frontage Road on three counts of contempt of court.
• Shundrae Antwine Minor, 35, 1785 Minor Lane, Tougaloo, was arrested about 3:27 a.m. at the Vicksburg Police Department on a warrant from another county, two counts o disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
• Raleigh Danuel Floyd, 19, 190 Katie Warner Road, was arrested about 12:30 a.m. Saturday on Interstate 20 at Halls Ferry Road on a charge of reckless driving.
• A warrant was served Friday on Saul Edwin Hilliard, 56, 3715 Halls Ferry Road.
• Derrick Leon Johnson, 41, 620 Locust St. Apt. 4, was arrested about 5:15 p.m. Friday in the 1500 block of Washington Street on a charge of public drunkenness.

• 10:42 a.m., 2600 block of Pearl Street, simple assault — creating fear.
• 11:21 a.m., 4100 block of Rifle Range Road, credit card fraud.
• 1:41 p.m., 1100 block of First East Street, petit larceny.
• 8:39 p.m., Motel 6, 4137 I-20 Frontage Road, malicious mischief.
• 9:36 p.m., 4400 block of Clay Street, petit larceny.
