MOOREVILLE, Miss. (AP) — A student who’s about to graduate from a Mississippi high school is celebrating 13 years of perfect attendance.

The Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal reports that Austin Owen of Mooreville never missed a day of class, from kindergarten through senior year. He is graduating May 19 from Mooreville High School.

Leigh Ray taught Owen science in fifth grade and high school, and describes the student as both energetic and easygoing.
Owen says he prides himself on never being tardy.

He will attend Itawamba Community College in the fall, and he hopes to study ministry and math. The commute to any of the school’s three campuses will be at least twice as long as the drive in Mooreville, so his streak of on-time perfect attendance will be tested.
