The Courtyard Marriott in Vicksburg is nearing the end of a $650,000 facelift for the hotel, which promises to give the hotel a new color scheme and more modern look, along with other improvements.

Lynn Foley, the sales director for the hotel, said the renovations came as part of the Marriott Brand Property Improvement Plan. The Vicksburg Marriot originally opened in 2009.

“They typically require that after eight years, but we got a year extension because we have such outstanding guest service satisfaction,” Foley explained. “It’s all wall coverings, carpets, furnishings, soft goods in all the guest rooms.”

The hotel is still finishing up the renovation, but some of the changes can already been seen, such as new paintings and carpets in the rooms.

“It’s going to definitely change the look of the hotel,” Foley said. “It’s a whole new color scheme, and it’s just going to be more contemporary and more modern, and more in line with the new Courtyard Marriott’s that are being built from the ground up.”

Foley definitely felt the renovations would be an improvement for the hotel.

“The whole feel and the whole look is going to be better and more modern, more upstate with what the guests are expecting from Courtyard Marriott,” Foley said.

The Riverwalk Casino’s hotel has also been undergoing some renovations that include new wallpaper, paint, carpets, bed lines and more. The fifth floor is seeing the most change, as all of the suites are being upgraded and two rooms are undergoing full-scale changes.

Work was also recently done at the LaQuinta Hotel, but the hotel couldn’t be reached for comment.
