Improvements could be coming to the entrance to Eagle Lake.
Paul and Linda Banchetti, members of the Eagle Lake Homeowners Association, recently met with the Warren County Board of Supervisors to discuss grading and drainage alterations to Eagle Lake Shore Road intersection with Highway 465.
“Our intentions are to make it easier and more pleasing to the eye to get into the neighborhood,” Paul Banchetti said.
“That’s the first thing you see when you come into Eagle Lake.”
A new sign is also enhancing the entrance to Eagle Lake.
He said the plan is to fill in the ditch on Eagle Lake Shore Road and divert the water to the Highway 465 ditch that runs south.
Linda Banchetti said the Mississippi Department of Transportation is “on board with it,” adding MDOT needs the supervisors to sign-off on renewing the permits that were issued in 2015.
“It’s an effort to beautify the area,” Paul Banchetti said. “We just want to get the project done.”
A property owner is willing to pay a contractor to fill in the ditch with dirt, according to Banchetti.
“It’s a joint effort among the property owners to try and make it look good,” Linda Banchetti said. “It’s a work in progress. If water were to back up into wherever or wherever, it will be corrected. We’re not going to just put in dirt and block it up and not take care of it and be inconsiderate. We’re just trying to make it look nice.”
She said since the entrance has been kept mowed over the last four years, fewer incidents of dumping have occurred in that vicinity.
Stantec engineers are expected to take a look at the area.
The documents presented to the supervisors must also be updated to indicate the work that is intended to be performed.
“As long as we’re (the county) protected, we’ll be fine,” board president Richard George told the Banchettis.
