Man claims he was shot in the leg

A man told police someone shot him in the leg while he was walking on U.S. 61 South Wednesday evening, Sgt. Johnnie Edwards said.

The shooting occurred about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The man, who was not identified, told officers he was walking southbound in the northbound lane in the 4000 block of U.S. 61 South when a dark colored Jeep Cherokee drove by with the windows down and someone in the rear seat shot at him, hitting him in the leg. He managed to get a ride to his home, where he called police. He was taken to University of Mississippi Medical Center.

In other cases:

• Dwayne Ruben Carson, 41, 812 Avenue C, was arrested about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday at Bowmar Avenue and Drummond Street by the NET narcotics team on three counts of sale of cocaine.

• An iPhone 7 and an Apple tablet were reported taken about 2:24 p.m. Wednesday from a home in the 400 block of Locust Street.

• A Taurus M85 .38-caliber revolver was reported taken about 5:39 p.m. Wednesday from a home in the 1900 block of Grove Street.

• A woman reported someone used her identity to buy a car from EZ Car Rentals and Sales, U.S. 61 North.

Vicksburg police made the following arrests between Friday and Wednesday:

• Alton Dewayne Sims, 36, 100 Kings St., was arrested about 12:22 a.m. Friday in the 3500 block of N. Washington St. on a charge contempt of court.

• Sean Andra Parson, 41, 1500 Ethel St., was arrested about 2:55 p.m. Friday in the 3400 block of Halls Ferry Road on a charge of first offense shoplifting.

• Cortez Darnell Harris, 33, 18125 Old Highway 80, was arrested about 7:56 p.m. Friday at the Clay Street Interstate 20 entrance on charges of domestic assault and harassing phone calls.

• Russell Alexis Hatchett, 41, 308 Hall Road, was arrested about 1:40 a.m. Saturday at Washington and Bridge streets on a charge of first-offense DUI.

• Warrants were served Saturday on Demetrick Devonta Ross, 22, 237 Locust St.

• Pamela Felecia Williams, 50, 2910 East Main St., was arrested about 2:51 a.m. Saturday in the 2900 block of East Main St. on a charge of disturbance of family.

• Uriah Leroy Warfield, 19, 903 Wabash Ave., was arrested about 7:13 a.m. Saturday at the police department on a charge of simple assault. He was also served with a warrant.

• Kimberly Michelle Harris-Thomas, 37, 1220 Harrison St., was arrested about 2:04 p.m. Saturday at Clay Street and Old Highway 27 on a charge of contempt of court.

• Michael Ladale Moffett, 47, 322 Victory Ave., was arrested about 3:19 p.m. Saturday in the 3200 block of Victory Avenue on a charge of simple assault — creating fear.

• Warrants were served Saturday on Yolanda Patrese Lumpkin, 23, 1200 Mission 66.

• Brent Jamal Shelby, 25, 1990 Royal St., was arrested about 4:30 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of Grange Hall Road, on a charge of domestic assault.

• Billy Grant Walker, 26, 105 Clear Creek Road, was arrested about 6:08 a.m. Sunday on two counts of contempt of court.

• Christopher Alan Vannorman, 45, 600 Porters Chapel Road, was arrested about 9:59 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Porters Chapel Road on a charge of contempt of court.

• Atmon Hackett, 51, 742 Dabney St., was arrested about 1:49 p.m. Sunday in the 700 block of Dabney Street on a charge of disturbing the peace.

• Maline Harris, 51, 2223 Pearl St. No. 2, was arrested about 2:29 a.m. Monday in the 2200 block of Pearl Street on a charge of disorderly conduct.

• Bettye Jean Robertson, 45, 2311 Letitia St., was arrested about 3:27 a.m. Monday in the 2300 block of Letitia on a charge of disturbance of family.

• Warrants were served Monday John Frderick Dolley, 34, 7501 1/2 Military Ave.

• Derineisha Myosha Nicholson, 28, 1068 Carneall St. Port Gibson, was arrested Monday about 10:34 a.m. at the police station on two counts of contempt of court.

• A warrant was served on Malinda Faye Patterson, 47, 9069 Barland Road, Pattison, about 1:31 p.m. Monday at U.S. 61 South and East Wigwam Road.

• A warrant was served Monday on Kenneth Neil Blackmore, 41, 1950 Hope St. No. 20.

• Sara Ann Jackson, 74, 539 Hugo St., was arrested about 7:51 a.m. Tuesday in the 1000 block of Cherry St. on a charge of contempt of court.

• Edward Bernard Davis, 46, 2727 Alcorn Drive No. 26, was arrested about 10:05 a.m. Tuesday in the 1600 block of Mulberry Street on charges of no proof of insurance, expired driver’s license and contempt of court.

• Elliot Dalton Wilkerson, 39, 211 Hills of the Valley, was arrested about 11:05 a.m. Tuesday in the 4100 block of Clay Street on charges of having an open container of alcohol and contempt of court.

• Mijor Kay Anerson, 27, 121 Erin St., Tallulah, Louisiana, was arrested about 2:57 p.m. Tuesday in the 1700 block of South Street on a charge of contempt of court.

• Willis Junior Jordan, 58, 2207 Pearl St., was arrested about 8:41 p.m. Tuesday at Washington and South streets on charges of simple assault — creating fear and public drunkenness.

• Jimmy Lee Hill, 30, 313 Evergreen Drive, was arrested about 11:10 p.m. in the 1300 block of East Magnolia on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

• Devontae Dearrius Mongomery, 24, No. 3 Lydia Place, was arrested about 8:48 a.m. Wednesday at the police department on a charge of contempt of court. He was also served with a warrant.

• Warrants were served Wednesday on Mark Jacory Sims, 25, 7340 Locust St.

• Warrants were served Wednesday on Nakeisha Lonette Blue, 32, 209 Hillside Drive.

• Shameka Pernell Brown, 31, 101 St. Patrick St., was arrested about 1:58 p.m. Wednesday, in the 1000 block of Warrenton Road on charges of having an expired driver’s license and speeding. She was also served with a warrant.

• Timmy Anthony Bradley, 19, 1101 Bowmar Ave. No. 3, was arrested about 5:13 p.m. Wednesday in the 1100 block of Bowmar on a charge of disturbing the peace.
