United Pentecostal leader T.F. Tenney dies, age 84

ALEXANDRIA, La. (AP) — United Pentecostal Church International leader Tom Fred Tenney has died at the age of 84.

Tenney was a minister for more than 65 years. He was the denomination’s national youth president from 1960-69, its head of foreign missions from 1970-75, and its Louisiana District superintendent for 27 years.

The current district superintendent, the Rev. Kevin Cox, says Tenney died Friday. He says Tenney had health problems for years, but spoke Sunday in his church, The Pentecostals of Alexandria.

Cox describes Tenney as a friend to all who seemed to remember almost everyone in any church he’d ever visited.

The national denomination , Louisiana District , and church all posted Facebook messages about his death.

Cox says Tenney’s funeral will be Tuesday at The Pentecostals of Alexandria.
