The Vicksburg Police Department is currently investigating a shooting that took place Wednesday morning in the area of Pearl Street.

According to Sgt. Johnnie Edwards with the Vicksburg Police Department, the call of a shooting went out around 9:07 a.m., where a 14-year-old was found shot. Edwards could not confirm, but said it appeared the victim had been “shot several times.”

Edwards said it appears an altercation took place “but we are early in the investigation and still sorting out the facts. We do have a person of interest who has been brought in for questioning.”

At last report, the victim was in stable condition and was airlifted to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
