Saturday is the deadline for people to vote absentee for the Nov. 6 general election.

The Warren County Circuit Clerk’s office will be open Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon so voters who will not be in town or for some other reason will not be able to go the polls Nov. 6 can cast their ballots.

As of 2 p.m. Wednesday, Circuit Clerk Jan Hyland Daigre said, 847 people had voted absentee at her office.

“It’s been very, very busy,” she said. “In the (2016) presidential race, we had 1,500 people vote absentee. Usually for other elections we have several hundred. This is very good.”

Eleven races are on the ballot for the general election involving circuit and county judicial posts, Central District constable, Warren County School District Board of Trustees, a special election for state House District 85, both U.S. Senate seats, and the 2nd Congressional District.

Three candidates, Circuit Judge M. James Chaney, Chancery Judge Vicki Roach Barnes and school district Trustee Alonzo Stevens are unopposed.
