People from throughout the community  came out to Merit Health River Region atrium to participate in the New Year Health Event Wednesday.

The event provided free screenings, as well as health consults with experts on heart health, cholesterol management, dieabetes, mental health, nutrition and exercise.

There was also a hands-on demonstration of the hospital’s new surgical robot.

Hospital officials are hopeful of having quarterly programs and events for the public with the next event set for Feb. 13, and will feature local Fit Chef Kevin Roberts.
