Woman hears disturbance; grazed by bullet

Curiosity about a disturbance going on outside her apartment resulted in a Vicksburg woman being shot in the leg at the Imperial Apartments, 1200 Mission 66.

The incident occurred about 2:54 a.m. Saturday. Vicksburg police Lt. Johnnie Edwards said the woman told officers she heard an argument outside her apartment and opened her door to look out and when she did, someone fired a shot. The bullet grazed her leg.

She was taken to Merit Health River Region, where she was treated and released.

No arrests have been made in the case.

In another case, Jamila Marie Barnes, 30, 2612 Ken Karyl Ave., was arrested about 6:34 a.m. Saturday at WaterView Casino, 3990 Washington St., on a Mississippi Department of Corrections warrant charging her with probation violation.

She was also charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor possession and sale of methamphetamine. She was also served with warrants.

In other cases:

• A pair of sunglasses was reported missing about 3:30 p.m. Monday from a car parked at Woodland Animal Clinic, 4327 Rifle Range Road.

• A person staying at the Econo Lodge, 3959 Clay St., reported Friday someone used their credit card number to make purchases totaling $3,398.

• Shots were reported fired at 7:18 p.m. Friday in the 700 block of Walnut Street.

• A counterfeit $100 bill was reported passed at 8:13 p.m. Friday at Riverwalk Casino, 1046 Warrenton Road.

• A 9mm Hi-Point handgun was reported missing from a home in the 1200 block of Holly Street.

Vicksburg police made the following misdemeanor arrests between Friday and Monday:

• A warrant was served Monday on Katie Lee Bell, 49, 2518 Drummond Sreet.

William Scott Harris, 53, 60 Rocky Lane, was arrested about 8 a.m. Monday at the Vicksburg Police Department on a charge of contempt of court.

Cortez Keion Harris, 27, 712 Speed St., was arrested about 7:45 p.m. Sunday at Harrison and Lake streets on charges of driving with a suspended license and making in improper turn at an intersection.

• Catheann Grace Lee, 31, 4407 Halls Ferry Road, was arrested about 3:39 p.m. Sunday at Hall Ferry and Porter’s Chapel roads, on a charge of disorderly conduct. She was also served with a warrant.

• Charlotte Joanne Thornton-Elliot, 48, 116 Maria Drive, was arrested at 1:23 p.m. Sunday in the 3900 block of Washington Street on a charge of trespassing.

• A warrant was served Sunday on Jeffery Leonard Crawley, 61, 135 Roseland Drive.

• Shawn LDale Banks, 43, 162 Meadowbrook Drive, was arrested at 2:03 a.m. Sunday at the police department on a charge of contempt of court.

• A warrant was served Sunday on Michael D. Williams, 28, 5610 Gibson Road.

• Larry Darnell Thomas, 32, 310 Cain Ridge Road, was arrested about 11:11 p.m. Saturday at Halls Ferry and Cain Ridge roads on charges of first-offense DUI, having an open container of alcohol and speeding.

• A warrant was served Saturday on Edwin James Theodore Malpica,26, 929 Warriors Trail.

Joshua Forrest Boyd, 20, 3365 U.S. 61 South, was arrested at 10:41 p.m. Saturday in the 4400 block of Halls Ferry Road on charges of simple assault and petty larceny.

• Thomas Ivan Foster Jr., 26, 3365 U.S. 61 South, was arrested about 10:41 p.m. Saturday in the 4400 block of Halls Ferry Road on a charge of contempt of court.

• A warrant was served Saturday on Jessica Shantrice Linear, 27, 1628 Crawford St.

• Geozanera Latreces Turner, 39, 11035 Pattison-Hermanville Road, Hermanville, was arrested about 11 a.m. Saturday on Halls Ferry Road on charges of driving with an expired license and a seatbelt violation.

• Jalsea Jackson, 29, 2727 Alcorn Drive, was arrested about 10:42 a.m. Saturday at Halls Ferry and North Frontage roads on charges of running a stop sign, seatbelt violation and driving with an expired license.

• Krystal Lashay Bowie, 26, 711 North Poplar St., was arrested about 10:03 a.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of U.S. 61 North on a charge of contempt of court.

• Eddie Ford III, 45, 718 North Poplar St., was arrested about 1:41 a.m. Saturday in the 700 block of North Poplar on charges of leaving the scene of an accident, no proof of insurance and having an expired driver’s license.

• James Shelton Ely Wallace, 28, 5055 Campbell Swamp Road, was arrested about 3:32 a.m. Saturday on U.S. 61 North on charge malicious mischief. He was also served warrants.

• Treyvon Rashad Wilson, 27, 2715 Halls Ferry Road, was arrested about 3:26 a.m. Saturday in the 1200 block of Mission 66 on a charge of simple assault.

• Warrants were served Saturday at the Clinton Police Department on Justin Darnell Lloyd, 30, 155 Countryside Drive.

• Warrants were served Saturday on Grant Jones II, 30, 621 Rigby St.

• Laurel Alison-Nora McDaniel, 34, 1515 Ethel St., was arrested Saturday at the police department on a charge of contempt of court.

• Shemara April Jackson, 19, 10427 Boswell St., Bastrop, Louisiana, was arrested about 1:38 p.m. Friday at U.S. 61 South and Cain Ridge Road, on a charge of driving with a suspended license.

• Warrants were served Friday on William Dewitt Smith, 56, 100 Chance Lane.

• Warrants were served Friday on Glenale Foster Jr., 1223 Bowmar Ave.

• David Dewayne Harris, 40, 2830 Arcadia Drive, was arrested about 8:35 a.m. Friday at the police department on a charge of contempt of court. He was also served with a warrant.

• Taelyr Brianna Mitchell. 25. 1356 Virginia Lloyd, Raymond, was arrested about 9:04 a.m. Friday at the police department on a charge of malicious mischief.

• Brittany Strickland Harpole, 26, 2612 Ken Karyl Ave., was arrested about 7:05 a.m. Friday on three counts of contempt of court.

• Sean Michael Conley Cosey, 22, 102 Quinola Lane, was arrested about 1:43 a.m. in the 4100 block of Washington St. on charges of first-offense shoplifting and disorderly conduct.
