Mutual Credit Union main branch reopens

After undergoing extensive renovations, the main branch of Mutual Credit Union, 1604 Cherry St., re-opened it doors Tuesday.

The entire space of the building has been remodeled, vice president of marketing Susan Mandarino said.

“We had a whole sprinkler system installed throughout the building, and we have created an operations area completely separate from our branch area,” Mandarino said, adding the operations area includes an information technology space, the accounting department and loan and marketing offices.

Also, the entrance has been moved and patrons will now enter from the parking lot side of the building.

In addition to the newly remodeled space, staffing has also increased Mandarino said.

“We have increased our back office support staff and what that does is allows our member-facing staff to service more people in a better manner. This remodel will also allow us to expand our services and allow us to grow for the future,” she said.

The branch on Cherry Street will also serve as the hub for board meetings Mandarino said.

There are approximately 35 people employed at the Mutual Credit Union Cherry Street branch, which was originally constructed in 1984.

There are four other branches — one on South Frontage Road and a branch on Clay Street.

“We also have a branch in Yazoo City and one in Raymond,” Mandarino said.

An official grand opening and ribbon cutting will be held when all the finishing touches have been made, Mandarino said, which she said expects will be sometime in March.

The hours of operation for all Mutual Credit Union branch locations remain Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Drive-thru services open at 8:30 a.m. at every branch.

Terri Frazier was born in Cleveland. Shortly afterward, the family moved to Vicksburg. She is a part-time reporter at The Vicksburg Post and is the editor of the Vicksburg Living Magazine, which has been awarded First Place by the Mississippi Press Association. She has also been the recipient of a First Place award in the MPA’s Better Newspaper Contest’s editorial division for the “Best Feature Story.”

Terri graduated from Warren Central High School and Mississippi State University where she received a bachelor’s degree in communications with an emphasis in public relations.

Prior to coming to work at The Post a little more than 10 years ago, she did some freelancing at the Jackson Free Press. But for most of her life, she enjoyed being a full-time stay at home mom.

Terri is a member of the Crawford Street United Methodist Church. She is a lifetime member of the Vicksburg Junior Auxiliary and is a past member of the Sampler Antique Club and Town and Country Garden Club. She is married to Dr. Walter Frazier.

“From staying informed with local governmental issues to hearing the stories of its people, a hometown newspaper is vital to a community. I have felt privileged to be part of a dedicated team at The Post throughout my tenure and hope that with theirs and with local support, I will be able to continue to grow and hone in on my skills as I help share the stories in Vicksburg. When asked what I like most about my job, my answer is always ‘the people.’
