The unidentified man was taken to Merit Health River Region and then transferred to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. His condition was unknown at press time.

Pace said no charges have been filed pending further investigation.

According to sheriff’s office reports, deputies responded about noon to a call of a disturbance at a home in the 5600 block of Gibson Road in which shots were fired. When deputies arrived, they learned the woman who lives at the home fired multiple shots from a 9mm handgun at a Honda SUV containing two women and a man that had pulled into the driveway. The SUV left after it was shot at.

While the deputies were investigating the incident, the trio in the SUV drove to Enchanted Drive, where they saw Vicksburg police officers who were answering an unrelated call.

The man got out of the SUV, approached the officers and told them he had been shot on Gibson Road.
