Lady Flashes win title at Wordy Hicks Relays

Natalie Burke won three events and the meet MVP award to lead the St. Aloysius Lady Flashes to the team championship at the Wordy Hicks Relays track and field meet Saturday in Woodville.

Burke won the long jump and triple jump, was on the winning 4×100 meter relay team, and finished second in the 200 meters.

Cati Matthews won the 400 meters, Ally Doiron posted two wins in the 1,600 and 3,200 meter runs, and the 4×400 and 4×800 meter relay teams were also victorious.
Other St. Al winners were Madelyn Roesch in the pole vault and Anna Scott Geter in the discus.

St. Al totaled 183.5 points, 66 ahead of runner-up Wilkinson County.

In the boys’ meet, St. Al finished third with 103 points. Wilkinson County won with 171.5 points, and Columbia High School was second with 130.5.

Preston McGowan won three individual events — the 100 meters (11.09 seconds), 200 meters (22.78 seconds) and long jump (20 feet, 8 inches) — and won the meet MVP award. He also finished second in the 400 meters.

Brayden Roesch won the boys’ pole vault with a vault of 12 feet. Evan Fedell won the 1,600 meters and was third in the 800 meters.
