MOBILE, Ala. — For the second time in three games, the Mobile BayBears walked off with a two-out home run in the final inning to beat the Mississippi Braves.

Mobile’s Jhoan Urena and Roberto Pena reached after back-to-back strikeouts by Josh Graham, and then Roberto Baldoquin hit his first home run of the season, just over left fielder Connor Lien’s outstretched glove, to give Mobile a 5-3 win on Monday.

Connor Justus hit a two-run home run to give Mobile a 4-3 win in the second game of a doubleheader on Saturday. The M-Braves won Sunday’s game 6-0 to avoid a five-game sweep. They’ll return to Trustmark Park Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. to start a five-game series with Jacksonville.

The M-Braves were a couple of outs away from winning their series against Mobile. After dropping Saturday’s game, they took a 3-2 lead into the ninth inning on Monday.
Drew Waters went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored, and Christian Pache was 2-for-4 with a triple. Waters has reached base in 19 of the 22 games he’s played this season.

Jonathan Morales also had two hits, as all eight hits for the M-Braves (10-13) came from the first four batters in the lineup. The Nos. 5-9 batters in the order were a combined 0-for-19 with eight strikeouts.

Mobile scored two runs in the fourth inning on a bases-loaded walk and a hit batter with the bases loaded to take a 2-1 lead. In the sixth, Waters hit a one-out double and scored on Pache’s triple, and Pache then scored on a wild pitch to put Mississippi back in front 3-2.

That lasted until the bottom of the ninth. Reliever Josh Graham (2-1) gave up a single to Urena and a walk to Pena to set up Baldoquin’s game-winning home run. Graham blew his second save of the season.

Mobile reliever Adrian Almeida pitched two innings of scoreless ball for the win. He allowed three hits, but struck out two batters and walked none.

Mississippi starter Kyle Muller got a no-decision despite pitching five innings. He allowed two runs, three hits and five walks, and struck out three. Mississippi’s pitching staff combined for 11 strikeouts.
