Butler camp registration
Registration for the 2019 Malcolm Butler Football Camp is now open.
The fifth annual camp will be held at Sports Force Parks on the Mississippi on July 20, from 7:30 a.m. to noon, and is open to children in grades 1-12. The camp is free, but space is limited to 200 children in grades 1-6 and 300 in grades 7-12, so registration is required.

VWSD Hall of Fame
Nominations are now being accepted for the Vicksburg Warren School District Athletic Hall of Fame’s Class of 2019. Nomination forms are available at the VWSD athletic office on Mission 66 or by emailing athletic director Preston Nailor at pnailor@vwsd.org. The deadline for nominations is June 1.

The Hall of Fame is for all athletes, coaches and administrators who have distinguished themselves in their sports while a student or contributor at Vicksburg or Warren Central High Schools. Candidates must also meet the following requirements: Athletes must be 15 years past their graduation date and have participated in sports at one of the two VWSD high schools for at least two years; coaches must be five years removed from their last position, and have coached for at least 10 years in their sport and five years in the VWSD; and administrators must have made significant contributions to VWSD athletics and be five years removed from their last position.
Learn to Swim classes

Registration for the American Red Cross Learn to Swim program at Vicksburg City Pool will be held May 15-May 17, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day, and May 18 from 10 a.m. to noon in front of the pool entrance. Classes are taught in two-week sessions. The cost for each session is $15. Class and space availability is limited. Classes are open to both children and adults.

Sessions run from June 3-14, June 24-July 5, and July 15-26. Lessons during each session run from 9 a.m. to 9:45 for childcare centers only; from 10 to 11:45 a.m. for the public; and from 5:45 to 6:30 p.m. for 3- and 4-year-old preschoolers and beginning adults ages 13-and-up.

Children participating in the preschool class must have turned 3 years old by the first day of class; and students registered for the Learn to Swim Levels program must be 5 years old by class start date.

Appropriate swimsuits are to be worn during all lessons. For more information please contact City Pool at 601-634-4516.

Adult softball
Registration for the City of Vicksburg’s adult softball leagues will continue until May 3. Registration packets can be picked up at the the Parks and Recreation office, 100 Army Navy Drive, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The cost is $175 per team, plus $10 for each non-city resident of Warren County and $20 for each resident of Sharkey, Issaquena, Claiborne and Hinds counties.
