Love’s and Arby’s are coming to Warren County.

County, city, state and Vicksburg-Warren Partnership officials together with representatives from Love’s Travel Stops broke ground in the Ceres Industrial Park, officially signaling the start of construction of Mississippi’s 16th Love’s and a $15 million investment in the industrial park.

The site for the new truck stop is at the entrance to Ceres off Interstate 20. Steve Walters, Love’s real estate project manager, said the new business is expected to create about 50 jobs and have space for about 100 truck stops.

Construction is expected to start in June with a January completion. Walters’ announcement of an Arby’s at the business drew a loud response from the crowd attending the ceremony.

He said after the ceremony Love’s selected the Ceres site because “it is a good fit for where our existing locations are; it fills a nice gap in our services and it gives the professional drivers using this area a good, safe place to stop.” He said Arby’s will be the only restaurant at the store.

Speaking during the ceremony, Walters said Love’s has been in business for 55 years.

“We’re still owned by the same family that started it in Oklahoma in a small town several years ago,” he said. “We have over 480 stores nationwide.”

He commended city, county and partnership officials for their cooperation in bringing Love’s to Ceres.

“Everybody has been great to work with,” he said. “We’re excited to be a part of the county and Vicksburg.”

Warren County Board of Supervisors President Richard George said having Love’s at the entrance to Ceres is important.

“It sets the stage for what you expect to see as you venture forth,” he said. “We are so happy to have an establishment with a reputation of performance across the countryside such as Love’s. It’s an asset to Vicksburg and Warren County, without a doubt.

“On this day, Vicksburg and Warren County can’t lose. This is a winning deal for all.”

Mayor George Flaggs Jr. said the city and county were grateful for Love’s decision to locate at Ceres “to enhance one of our main corridors for everyone traveling to our city and state.

“Helping new businesses set up shop is how we grow this city and county together.”

Having Love’s at Ceres, he said, “We believe that now we’ll be able to develop this whole industrial park like never before.”
