Funeral services for Willie Jean Carpenter Drayton will be 1 p.m. Saturday, June 1, at King David No. 2 M.B. Church with the Rev. A A Hines officiating.

Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home. 

Mrs. Drayton will be taken to the church 1 hour prior to the start of the funeral service.

Mrs. Drayton passed away Monday, May 27, at Select Specialty Hospital of Jackson following a brief illness.  She was 73.  She had worked as a nurse in the Kuhn State Memorial Hospital and the Vicksburg Hospital. She was a member of King David No. 2 M. B. Church.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Robert and Lillie Mae Palmer Carpenter; and her daughter, Shelia Drayton.

She is survived by her two sons, Clarence Drayton III and Michael Darnell Drayton, both of Vicksburg; her daughter, Stephanie C. Smith of Brandon; her two brothers, James Carpenter and Larry Carpenter, both of Vicksburg; her sister, Louise Carpenter of Vicksburg; and three grandchildren.
