Dr. Shu Hsiung Chang passed away at University of Mississippi Medical Center, Jackson, on June 2, 2019.

Born in Jianxi, China, she came to the U.S. as a Ph.D. student of chemistry at University of Cincinnati.

In the late 1960s, she arrived with her husband and son to Mississippi, where she later taught for over 30 years as a professor of chemistry at Hinds Community College, Raymond. A Vicksburg resident for 50 years, she is survived by her husband, Frank Chang; son, Larry; daughter-in-law, Dinah McFarlane; and granddaughter Linnea.
A Celebration of Life service will be held later, with date and location to be announced.
