Argument escalates into stabbing

Vicksburg police are holding a man for questioning in the reported stabbing of another man during a Tuesday afternoon fight on Halls Ferry Road.

Lt. Johnnie Edwards said officers responding to a call about a stabbing in the 2500 block of Halls Ferry Road about 4:56 p.m. arrived to find Carlos Armstead, 40, on the ground suffering from stab wounds to his back and abdomen.

He was taken to Merit Health River Region then transferred to University of Mississippi Medical Center, where he was reported in good condition, Edwards said.

He said Armstead and another man were arguing and the confrontation became a fight in which both received stab wounds. Edwards said no charges have been filed pending further investigation, adding police are still questioning witnesses.
