Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said deputies received a call about 4 a.m. concerning a wreck on Mississippi 27 south of the city limits.

According to sheriff’s office reports, Robinson’s car was southbound on Mississippi 27 when it went off the right side of the road and hit standing water in a ditch. A witness to the wreck helped Robinson get out of the car and called 911.

When deputies and paramedics arrived, they saw Robinson had been shot in the face.

Pace said authorities have a suspect in the case, but no one was in custody.

He declined further comment, citing the ongoing investigation.
