An argument over a bicycle led to the arrest of two people Wednesday afternoon on charges stemming from a Wednesday afternoon drive-by shooting on Second North Street.

Vicksburg police Lt. Johnnie Edwards said Antwan Demond Jacobs 29, 105 Cedar Lane, Jackson, and his girlfriend, Xavier Anne Earl, 22, 1001 First East St., are accused of firing multiple gunshots into a home at 1235 Second North St. occupied by five people, mostly children.

Jacobs faces charges of drive-by shooting, shooting into an occupied dwelling and three counts of attempted aggravated assault.

Earl faces charges of drive-by shooting. They are being held without bail in the Madison County Jail pending an initial appearance in Vicksburg Municipal Court 10 a.m. Friday.

According to police reports, Jacobs and Earl believed one of the people in the house had stolen a bicycle and went to the house to confront the alleged thief. When they got to the house, an argument occurred and the couple got into the car and began shooting at the house and drove off.

Officers later stopped the car the couple was in and took them into custody.
