Legends baseball camp
The Legends for Youth Baseball Clinic, presented by the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association, will be held Sunday, July 28, from 5 to 8 p.m., at Sports Force Parks on the Mississippi.

The free clinic will include instruction from Vicksburg native Roosevelt Brown — who played four seasons with the Chicago Cubs — and other former major league players.

The clinic is for players ages 6-16. Guardians must complete the registration for children under 13 years old. Participants should arrive for the camp at 4:30 p.m. and bring sneakers or cleats, water and their own bats and gloves.

Cannons baseball team
The Vicksburg Cannons Baseball Club are looking for players for its 7U and 10U tournament baseball teams. The 10U tryouts will be held Saturday, July 27, from 10 a.m. to noon, and 7U tryouts are Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to noon. Tryouts for both teams are at the Culkin Baseball Complex.

Other age groups are forming and tryouts will be posted accordingly. Coaches are also needed. For information regarding tryouts or coaching a team, please contact Matt Mallard or Dustin Chamblee at vicksburgcannons@gmail.com.

YMCA football registration
Registration for the Vicksburg YMCA’s 2019 youth football season will continue until Aug. 31.
There are four leagues for children ages 5-11. The 5-6, 7- and 8-9-year-olds’ leagues are all flag football leagues, and the 10-11-year-olds’ division is tackle football.

The cost is $60 for YMCA members and $80 for non-members.

The season starts Sept. 16. Flag football games will be played Monday and Tuesday evenings, and the tackle league on Thursdays, at the Purks YMCA.

Tennis rally at Halls Ferry
Vicksburg will host a National Junior Tennis League Rally on Saturday, July 27, at the Halls Ferry Park Tennis Facility. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and is free. For information, call 601-618-4757.

SHAF charity shoot
The Southern Heritage Air Foundation will host its 2019 Sporting Clay Charity Shoot on Saturday, Aug. 24, at 9:30 a.m. at the Turcotte Shooting Range in Canton. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m.

A golf cart or UTV is required, and rentals will be available.

The cost for the shoot is $100 per shooter for 100 targets. The proceeds from the event benefit the Southern Heritage Air Foundation and its programs. For more information, visit southernheritageair.org.

City tennis program
The City of Vicksburg’s summer tennis program will continue through the end of July at Halls Ferry Park. The daily camp is held Monday through Friday, from 8 to 10 a.m., for children ages 5-18.
