Vicksburg police are continuing their search for two men accused of taking a car and then leading police on a chase that ended with the pair left the car and ran into a wooded area on Patton Street.

Vicksburg police Lt. Johnny Edwards said the pair are accused of taking a 2017 Honda Civic Saturday morning in the 1700 block of East Avenue.

About 5:46 p.m. Sunday, an officer on patrol saw the car in the area of Washington Street and Bowmar Avenue and attempted to stop it.

The driver of the car refused to stop, leading to the chase that ended in the 800 block of Patton Street, where the men jumped out of the car while it was rolling and ran into the woods. The car, which was still in gear, then struck a city-owned Ford F-450 truck.

Officers with the aid of a Warren County Sheriff’s Office K-9 searched the woods but were unable to find the men.
