Two injured in Friday morning accident

An accident Friday morning on U.S. Highway 80 injured two people, sending one to Merit Health River Region and another to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Their conditions are not known, and their identities have not yet been released.

According to officials, the accident, which involved a car and a van around 10:30 a.m., took place on U.S. 80 at the intersection with Mt. Alban Road.

Emergency medical teams from the Vicksburg Fire Department responded.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the accident.
