Grand Gulf employees rally to support local students

When the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Women in Nuclear employees organized a Back-to-School supply drive, their fellow workers went above and beyond in giving.

There were enough supplies collected that donations were able to benefit three schools — Warrenton Elementary, Vicksburg Intermediate and Dana Road Elementary.

“The employees gave over two truckloads of material for the three schools, and their respective computer labs, libraries, STEM classes and GATES classes,” WIN Back-to-School committee chairman Jennifer Smith said.

Donations collected included binders, book bags, rulers, pencils, paper and glue.

“This effort is about helping the kids succeed,” Gail Stanton, GGNS Security administration assistant, said. “When the children succeed, we all succeed.”

Through the company’s generosity, Smith said, the Back-to-School supply drive demonstrates the caring nature of the GGNS employees and “clearly reflects” Entergy’s commitment to give back to and support the communities it serves.

“We want to say thanks to all Grand Gulf employees for their donation toward Grand Gulf Women In Nuclear’s Back-to-School supply drive. Thanks for making a difference in the community,” Smith said.
