More charges have been filed against a Pearl man accused of breaking into a home in the 200 block of West Drive and shooting a 49-year-old man.

Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said additional charges of home invasion burglary and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon have been filed against Dale Armstrong, who is already charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling and aggravated assault in the Monday break-in.

Armstrong’s bond was increased from $150,000 to $450,000, and he remains in the Warren County Jail. Pace said the investigation into the break-in is ongoing and will be presented to the next Warren County grand jury.

According to sheriff’s office reports, deputies responding to a 7 a.m. call from the area found the man with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Pace said the man was conscious and talking when deputies arrived. He was later taken by ambulance to the parking lot at South Park Elementary School, where he was flown by AirCare to a University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.

The investigation into the break-in and shooting indicated that Armstrong and the man had a history, leading officials to believe the attack was not random.

“At no time were residents in the area in any immediate danger,” Pace said Monday evening. “We believe this was a targeted incident.”

Pace said multiple agencies were involved in the investigation and search for Armstrong, who turned himself in to authorities with the Brandon Police Department Monday evening.

He said evidence indicated Armstrong forced entry into the victim’s home, where he shot the victim.
