Junior high football report
Porter’s Chapel 30, Sharkey-Issaquena 0 – Brayson Morson rushed for one touchdown, and had 12 tackles and three sacks on defense to lead Porter’s Chapel Academy’s junior high team to a rout of Sharkey-Issaquena Academy. Morson has scored seven touchdowns in three games for the Eagles (2-1), who will host Manchester Thursday at 6 p.m.

Vicksburg Junior 16, Clinton 6 – Ronnie Alexander threw a 63-yard touchdown pass to Johnny Smith, and added a 10-yard TD run to lead Vicksburg Junior High over Clinton. Smith ran for a pair of two-point conversions. The Gators’ defense was led led by Decorey Knight with an interception and Demarcus Johnson with a forced fumble. Vicksburg improved its record to 2-0 and will play Brandon at home on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Over the River Run
Registration is open for the Over the River Run, a 5-mile run and race walk across the Old Mississippi River Bridge.

The race is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 12 at 8 a.m. The entry fee is $25 for the run and race walk, or $10 for children under 10. For more information or to register, visit southernculture.org, or call the Southern Cultural Heritage Foundation at 601-631-2997.

Fall baseball registration

Registration for the City of Vicksburg youth fall baseball league will continue until Sept. 13. The league is for children ages 5-12, and will have four age divisions. The registration fee is $25.

Co-ed softball registration
Registration for the City of Vicksburg’s co-ed adult and church softball leagues will continue through Sept. 20. The registration fee is $175 per team, plus an additional cost of $10 per player from Warren County (outside the city limits) and $20 for residents of Sharkey, Issaquena and Claiborne counties.

Realtor golf tournament
The annual Vicksburg Realtor Golf Tournament will be Saturday, Sept. 28 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Vicksburg Country Club. This event is hosted by the Vicksburg-Warren County Board of Realtors and proceeds benefit The Warrior Bonfire Program. Cost is $90 per player or $325 per four-man team.
