Jack Glenn Muirhead Sr.

Jack Glenn Muirhead Sr. passed from this life into his eternal home on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019, at the age of 72.

He was born Aug. 9, 1947 in Vicksburg and was married to his loving wife, Joan Wheeler Muirhead, for 51 years. He was blessed with two children, three grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Muirhead loved his family very much, but above all he loved his Savior, Jesus Christ.

He was truly a man of faith and a witness to all for the Kingdom of God. He was a member of Wayside Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon.

He was a graduate of Warren Central High School and attended Mississippi College, where he studied accounting. He was retired from the Local 114 Insulators and Asbestos Workers Union and was also a Master Carpenter.

During his life, Mr. Muirhead loved studying God’s Word, working with wood, and walking.

Mr. Muirhead was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Sr. and Hattie Muirhead; and two brothers, Frank Muirhead Jr. and Dan Muirhead Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Joan Wheeler Muirhead of Vicksburg; a son, Jack Glenn Muirhead Jr. and his wife Allison H. Muirhead of Madison; a daughter, Jennifer Muirhead Williams and her husband Chris Williams of Vicksburg; four brothers, Wayne (Butch) Muirhead, Richard (Dick) Muirhead and his wife Jane Muirhead, David Muirhead and William (Bill) Muirhead and his wife Jenny Muirhead; three grandchildren, Elle Muirhead, Brantly Williams, and Bridges Williams; and many other nieces, nephews and family members, including Gloria Martin and her husband Guy Martin, Ronnie Wheeler and Dale Wheeler.   

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16, at Wayside Baptist Church with the Rev. Chris Williams officiating.

Burial will follow at Wayside Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be at Wayside Baptist Church on the day of the service. Family visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Visitation will be open to the public from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service.

Pallbearers will be Wendall Jarvis, Tony Kolb, Berlin Wedgeworth, David Williams, Joe Richardson, Mike Craft, Henry Peyton, and Wayne Muirhead.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Paul Pierce III, Wayside Baptist Church Deacons and the Wayside Baptist Church Men’s Sunday school class.
