Published 6:24 pm Wednesday, September 18, 2019

While residents in the Eagle Lake community continue to clean up and rebuild from a historic flood, one part of their lives is “returning to normal.”

Wednesday, the Warren County Board of Supervisors authorized Eagle Lake Volunteer Fire Department, 15115 Hwy. 465, to again be the polling place for registered voters in that precinct.

During the primary and runoff elections in August, the precinct was temporarily moved to Redwood United Methodist Church.

Sara Dionne, chair of the Warren County Election Commission, confirmed her office had received word of the decision Wednesday.

Monday, Warren County Board of Supervisors President Richard George said supervisors would make a decision by the end of the week, making sure access roads and other needed infrastructure needs were restored and in place before returning the precinct to the fire station.

During the runoff election, held Aug. 27, a total of 358 registered voters were assigned to the Eagle Lake area precinct.

The general election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 5, with the deadline to register to vote set for Monday, Oct. 7.

Absentee voting opens Monday, Sept. 23.

For more information on absentee voting, registering to vote or other election information, call the Warren County Circuit Clerks office at (601) 636-3961 or the Warren County Election Commission at (601) 638-8875.

Dionne said her office would begin work Thursday on putting together an updated voting postcard to residents in that area, notifying them of the precinct returning to the fire station.
