One shot and killed early Saturday; police searching for suspects

An early Saturday morning shooting has left a Vicksburg man dead and the Vicksburg Police Department searching for the person or persons responsible.

Around 12:51 a.m., Vicksburg Police responded to a report of shots fired in the 1100 block of Fayette Street. Reports also said there was one person shot.

Once officers arrived, they found Dematric Lamar Clark, 36, lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the head. He later died from his injury.

Lt. Johnnie Edwards, with the Vicksburg Police Department, in a release Saturday, said the homicide remains under investigation and that no arrest has been made.

“Vicksburg Police need the community’s help with information concerning this homicide,” the department said in the release.
