One murder suspect remains at large, more arrests expected

Investigators are questioning one person and looking for another in the Saturday morning shooting death of Dematric Lamar Clark, 36.

Lt. Johnnie Edwards with the Vicksburg Police Department said police are holding Demarcus Qualls for questioning in the shooting.

He said Qualls, who was taken into custody Monday on a police department warrant, has not been charged at this time.

Edwards said police are continuing their search for Eric Clayton, who remains at large, and more arrests are expected.

According to police reports, officers responding about 12:51 a.m. Saturday to a report of shots fired in the 1100 block of Fayette Street with one person shot arrived to find Clark lying in the street in the 1200 block of Fayette with a gunshot wound to the head.

Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey pronounced him dead at the scene. Clark’s death is the second reported homicide of 2019.

Edwards said no motive has been determined for the death and the case remains under investigation.
