Art lovers in Vicksburg, and throughout Mississippi, are aware of Randy Jolly’s talent. Now, art enthusiasts in Arkansas will get to view some of Jolly’s work.

Last week, The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas in Pine Bluff announced one of Jolly’s pieces has been selected for the 2019 Irene Rosenzweig Biennial Juried Exhibition.

His mixed-media piece “Urban Warrior” is part of the juried exhibition showcasing mid-South artists.

The exhibition opens Thursday.

Jolly lists his areas of expertise as working with clay and “painting with a strong mixed-media influence.”

He is an art instructor at Mississippi College and director of the college’s Gore Galleries. He joined Mississippi College’s faculty in 2008 and teaches design, painting and drawing. The Mississippi Art Education Association Museum Division named him Art Educator of the Year in 2017 and he currently serves as president of the Vicksburg Art Association.

He has a Master of Education degree from Mississippi College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.

In a release announcing Jolly’s acceptance into the exhibition, organizers described the event as “an opportunity for established and up-and-coming artists to gain recognition and earn cash awards.” The exhibition is open to artists in Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas. Artwork in all traditional forms including paintings, drawings, original prints, fiber art, ceramics, sculpture and photography is accepted. The prizes awarded are best in show ($1,000), first place ($500), second place ($200) and three $100 Merit prizes.

The Irene Rosenzweig Endowment Fund Inc. supports the exhibition.
