Spooky Sprint 5K
The fifth annual Spooky Sprint 5K is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 26 in downtown Vicksburg.

The race will feature a 5-kilometer run and race walk, as well as a 1-mile fun run beginning at 8 a.m. Runners and walkers are encouraged to wear costumes, and afterward there will be a Halloween carnival with food, music and awards. The race will begin at the BancorpSouth parking lot, at 820 South St.

The entry fee is $35 for the run and walk, or $20 for the fun run, and online registration is available at spookysprint5k.webconnex.com/2019registration until Oct. 23.

WC Softball Spooktacular
The Sixth Annual Warren Central Halloween Spooktacular softball game is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. at Halls Ferry Park’s National Field.

The game is an annual fundraiser that features a co-ed slow-pitch softball game between Warren Central’s baseball and softball teams. Players dress up in costumes for the game and hand out candy to children in the stands between innings.

Admission is $5. Children under 12 get in free. All proceeds will benefit the family of Natalie McMillian, a Vicksburg teenager who recently passed away following a yearlong battle with a brain tumor.

VHS Haunted House
Vicksburg High School will present its “Nightmare on Drummond Street” haunted house on Sunday, Oct. 27 from 7:15 to 9:30 p.m. at the high school. Admission is $5 and children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. All patrons should enter the school on the Confederate Avenue side.

Monster Mash at Moss
Hinds Community College will host the annual Monster Mash at Moss charity softball game on Tuesday, Oct. 29, at Joe G. Moss Field on the Raymond campus.

The game is an annual fundraiser that features a co-ed slow-pitch softball game between Hinds’ baseball and softball teams. Players dress up in costumes for the game and engage in activities with the children in attendance.

The event will feature character and costume introductions as well as a “Trunk-or-Treat” event beginning at 6 p.m. That will be followed by the softball game at 6:30.

All proceeds from the fundraiser go directly to the Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson. General admission is $5, or $2 with a Hinds ID. Children under 12 are admitted free.

Realtor golf tournament
The annual Vicksburg Realtor Golf Tournament will be Friday, Oct. 25 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Vicksburg Country Club. This event is hosted by the Vicksburg-Warren County Board of Realtors and proceeds benefit The Warrior Bonfire Program. Cost is $90 per player or $325 per four-man team. A team and hole sponsorship combination is available for $400.

Sports Force softball
Sports Force Parks on the Mississippi will host the Monster Mash fast-pitch youth softball tournament on Oct. 26 and 27. The tournament is for girls teams in the 8U to 18U age divisions, and sanctioned by the FASA. The entry fee is $260 per team, and there is a four-game guarantee.

Kudzu Classic soccer
The Kudzu Classic youth soccer tournament is scheduled for Nov. 9 and 10 at Sports Force Parks on the Mississippi in Vicksburg.

The tournament is for teams in the 9U to 18U age groups. The entry fee ranges from $375 to $425 per team, depending on the age group, and there is a three-game guarantee.
