Warren Central soccer loses two to Madison Central

Warren Central’s soccer teams both stumbled in an early-season test Saturday against perennial state power Madison Central.

Fabien Barker scored two goals in the second half as the Jaguars beat Warren Central 2-0 in the boys’ game at Viking Stadium.

Madison Central (7-0-1, 1-0 Region 4-6A) outshot the Vikings 15-5, and put nine shots on goal in the region opener for both teams.

Keeper Ben Vroman had seven saves for Warren Central (7-1, 0-1), which gave up its first two goals of the season.

In the girls’ game, freshman Olivia Tribolet scored two goals to lead Madison Central to a 3-0 victory.

Alana Dear-Delamora added a goal for Madison Central (5-0-3, 1-0 Region 4-6A), while eighth-grader Lorilee Taylor had two assists. The Lady Jags scored twice in the first half and held Warren Central (3-3, 0-1) without a shot in the game.

Warren Central keeper Anna Hoben made six saves against nine shots on goal.

Warren Central will be off for Thanksgiving week and return on Dec. 3 with another region game, on the road at Murrah at 5:30 p.m.
