Cornhole tournament
The City of Vicksburg’s Parks and Recreation Department will hold the inaugural Top Gun Cornhole Tournament Jan. 24 and 25 at the Vicksburg Convention Center.

Registration will begin Dec. 16 and continue through Jan. 17. The cost is $50 per two-person team, and the double-elimination tournament is open to adults ages 18 and up. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams.

Ugly Sweater softball
Softball and baseball teams from Warren Central, Vicksburg High, Porter’s Chapel Academy and St. Aloysius will combine to play an “Ugly Sweater” softball game on Saturday, Dec. 14 at Halls Ferry Park.

Players will participate in co-ed varsity and junior varsity games while wearing ugly Christmas sweaters. The games will begin at 2 p.m. and continue through the afternoon.

Admission to the game is a new toy or monetary donation of any amount that will go to the Warren County Sheriff Department’s Toy Drive.

Reindeer Run 5K
The inaugural Reindeer Run 5K is scheduled for Dec. 7 in downtown Vicksburg. The race will begin at 8 a.m. at Margaritaville, 1300 Levee St., and includes a 5K run, 5K race walk, 1 mile fun run, holiday pet parade and a post race party.

The race will benefit Paws Rescue. The entry fee is $30. Online registration is available at raceroster.com/events/2019/26741/reindeer-run-5K

SWAC championship tickets
Tickets and parking for the Southwestern Athletic Conference football championship game are now on sale. The game is scheduled for Dec. 7 at 3 p.m., and will feature Alcorn State against either Grambling or Southern University. Alcorn State is the home team and the game will be played on its campus in Lorman, at Jack Spinks Stadium.

Tickets range from $35 for general admission to $65 for chairback seats. Student tickets are $20 and will not be available the day of the game. Parking ranges from $15 to $80, depending on the lot, and $80 to $130 for RVs and buses.

Adult basketball league
Registration for the Vicksburg Parks and Recreation Department’s men’s and women’s adult basketball leagues will continue through Dec. 31. The registration fees are $125 per team, plus $5 for each non-city resident, with the total not to exceed $175. Registration packets can be picked up at the Parks And Rec office at 100 Army Navy Drive or the Jackson Street Community Center.

A mandatory coaches meeting will be held on Dec. 18 at 6:30 p.m. at the Parks and Rec office.

VWAA baseball registraiton
The Vicksburg Warren Athletic Association has opened registration for its 2020 spring youth baseball season. All games will be played at Sports Force Parks on the Mississippi. Online registration is available at vwaabaseball.org.

The registration fee is $75 per player, but coaches are eligible for a $25 discount for their child. For more information, email vwaabaseball@gmail.com.
