Warren County deputies helping respond to damage in Edwards

A line of severe weather that produced a tornado that was first spotted near Port Gibson has reportedly caused damage in the Edwards community.

As of right now, it does not appear there are any reports of damage in Warren County.

According to Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace, officials in Edwards have requested assistance in handling traffic in and around the community. The scope of damages in Edwards is not yet known.

Pace said he and a few deputies were heading to Edwards to assist.

The line of severe weather, which resulted in numerous tornado warnings for Claiborne and Warren counites happened shortly after 11 a.m. and continued through about 12:40 p.m.

As of 3 p.m., nearly 2,000 Entergy customers in the Edwards community were without power.
